Public Works Week Grant Application
The ND Chapter of the American Public Works Association is soliciting applications for the 2025 Grant Award for the Public Works Week Event.
Purpose:
The North Dakota Chapter of APWA encourages communities to educate the general public on the importance of a Public Works Department. This education includes showcasing all the work the public works department does from water mains to snow removal, wastewater management to street lights, and everything in-between.
The NDAPWA grant award was established in 2020 to provide up to $500 in grant monies to assist cities in promoting their Public Works Department. Showcasing the Public Works Department promotes the substantial contributions made to health, safety, welfare, and quality of life in our municipalities. Up to three Public Works Departments will be awarded this year.
Criteria:
- Grant monies must be used during or around the Public Works Week for a public outreach program or event. The monies may be used for anything related to the event(s) such as advertising, supplies, event execution, etc.
- If awarded monies, the awardee agrees to submit a photo(s) of the event for publication by NDAPWA.
- The event can be as small as a public works building open house to providing an entire day of activities. Some communities have had students paint snow plow blades, employees have visited local schools, tours of public works facilities, or had the Mayor sign a proclamation.
- Community/County is only eligible every five years.
- Priority is given to the communities that have not previously received the grant.
- APWA membership is encouraged, but is not required for grant eligibility.

The 2025 National Public Works Week is May 18th – 24th.
